How To Survive In Zimbabwe

1. Find something that you can do that doesn’t need you to import but to produce with local materials

2. Find something that you can be exporting

3. Dont sell any of your assets now.

4. If you have kumusha buy cattle now and keep especially if your home area is not hit with the drought

5. Downsize. If u have a car downsize to a smaller and more fuel efficient model. If you are renting full house downsize to a smaller house or change suburbs.

6. Dont do things for prestige. Send your children to a school you can afford

7. If you have space grow vegetables, breed chickens (and zvihuta!)

8. If you are renting but have a stand elsewhere move to your stand. Build something basic and go stay at your stand. Forego luxury living

9. If you are married dont fight over money. Hapana hapana. Put your heads together and think of survival tactics instead of fighting and accusing each other. Not everyone can sell things or be a vendor.

10. Be at peace! This is important. Stress levels will go up. They are already up! Dont be a victim of things that are not under your control. Speak to others and pray with others.
11. If you are not married, hold on to your peace

God bless you.

Diaspora Investment Idea No 2: Pub at Westgate

no thumb

pub

Expect this page to feature general investment advice targeting the Diaspora Community. I will provide at least 2 investment ideas per month and last week I gave you advice on Water Parks, this weekend we are still in the Entertainment Sector and look at Westgate or Mashonaland East.

So Westgate Shopping Centre does not have a pub and iam basing this information on my last visit to this shopping mall 2 months ago. There has been no pun/club at this Old Mutual owned property for several years and we don’t know why. The last popular pub at this mall is Megga 2 which later on relocated to Hatfield. Since the departure of Megga 2, no one has come to open a new pub at this busy shopping mall.

Still on the entertainment sector have you visited Paramount yet? Paramount is the ‘place to be’ in Harare. The open air venue was opened a few months ago and has already become a hit. Getting parking space after 7:00pm during the weekends is a difficult task. Hararians are flocking to this new joint in huge numbers. It looks like Mereki, Zindoga and Kwa Farai have been overtaken by Paramount. The huge numbers of people flocking this place shows that business opportunities exist in Harare especially on the Entertainment sector-vanhu havasi kurega kufara despite economic challenges!

So if you are a Diasporan who will be back home in December here is a tip.. Visit Mereki, Zindoga, Kwa Farai, Mutangadura, Ziko, Megga 2 and then Paramount. Do analyse trends from these areas and consider opening your own place near Westgate along Harare Chirundu Road. Hakuna open air nzvimbo yemafaro direction ye Westgate, so ukashaya nzvimbo pa Old Mutual owned mall, then usanetseke zvakanyanyisa-enda a few kilometres near Mt Hampden and establish a good venue that is family friendly like Paramount and Megga 2.

All the best
